Transforming Lives in Rwanda

Rwanda Programs

In Rwanda, we support the development and empowerment of widows of the genocide, orphans, the elderly, people with HIV/AIDS, vulnerable children and their families living in the rural villages. Our programs are grouped into four categories namely Christian Counseling and Pastoral Care, Economic Empowerment initiative, Children’s Tuition & Health Insurance Program and Community Seminars.

We offer professional and lay counseling services and pastoral care to individuals and families dealing with trauma and suffer symptoms associated with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Each year we provide yearlong training to 20 lay counselors equipping them with skills and tools to address a variety of needs within the community.

We  facilitate 3 economic self-sufficiency programs to assist individuals and families in poverty achieve economic independence. They include:

Micro Lending – We equip women with entrepreneurship skills needed to operate small businesses and provide microloans to assist in the launching of businesses. Businesses are diverse and address the needs of the local community where they reside.

Sustainable Farming– We provide seeds and train families in sustainable agriculture.

Sewing School – We train women in sewing and hand making crafts accompanied with entrepreneurship skills. With the skill sets, women are empowered to earn a living to support themselves and their families.

Through the children’s tuition and health insurance program, we sponsor underprivileged children living in extreme poverty to attain primary, secondary and college education. Students receive full tuition, all required school supplies and uniforms. In addition, we cover health insurance costs for students on tuition support and their immediate family members. In the last 7 years, 45 children have graduated from high school and 3 from college.

We facilitate community seminars and workshops to train village community leaders in good governance, conflict resolution, and public health issues. We also offer marriage seminars and parenting workshops and support for single mothers.
