Get Involved

Be part of the welcome.

Gate of Hope has walked alongside East African new neighbors in Louisville since 1995. The reading circles, the rows on the farm, the citizenship and driver’s-ed classes, the first knock on a new door — they happen because people show up. There’s a place here for you.

Ways In

Three ways to be part of this

Give your time, build experience as an intern, or hold the work in prayer. Each one is a real commitment, and each one matters.

Volunteer

Give your time

Read with children in Himbaza, our children’s faith program. Work the rows on the Gosheni farm. Sit in on a citizenship or driver’s-ed class. Most volunteering happens in Louisville; some is virtual.

Internships

Build real experience

Spend a season in education, community work, or nonprofit operations, with mentorship from people who’ve done it for years. A strong fit for students and anyone weighing this kind of work.

Prayer & Connection

Pray with us

Gate of Hope Connects meets online the second Thursday of every month at noon. Come pray, hear what’s happening, and stand with new neighbors from wherever you are.

The Work You’d Join

Why it’s worth your time

Gate of Hope is one family with four initiatives. Himbaza (“praise”) walks with children. Gosheni (“the healing place”) grows food and recovery on the farm. Tabara mentors young women and girls and helps them grow in safety and strength. Humura (“be at peace”) offers trauma-informed care.

Behind all of it are families from Burundi, Congo, Rwanda and beyond, building a life in Louisville with neighbors who chose to stay close. We build alongside people, never for them. And we’ve done this since 1995 — ECFA-accredited, so the time and trust you give are accounted for.
