Inspiring hope.
Transforming lives.
Gate of Hope walks with East African new neighbors as they make Louisville home: through farming, faith, safety, mentorship, and the everyday work of settling in. Five initiatives, one welcome.

Our work in Louisville
Everything we do here runs through five initiatives. Four carry their own names and stories. The fifth gathers the practical help that makes a new start possible.
Gosheni
On 19 acres in Southwest Louisville, new neighbors grow food, find healing, and belong. The work happens in the soil and in five languages: Swahili, Kinyarwanda, French, Kirundi, and Kinyamulenge.

Himbaza
Himbaza means praise in Kinyarwanda. It welcomes children into the life of East African churches through storytelling, music, dance, and drama, so every child can take part across generations and languages.

Humura
Humura means be comforted, be at peace. It walks with women and families through hard seasons toward safety and healing, with counseling, practical support, and a community that stays.

Tabara
Tabara means to be reached, rescued, and restored. It mentors East African young women and girls, affirming their worth and building skills, confidence, and real pathways forward, alongside schools and churches.

Integrating New Neighbors (INN)
Integrating New Neighbors carries the practical side of starting over. Interpreters and translators keep language from ever holding a family back. Driver's education and the road to a license open up work and school, and guided support walks people through the steps toward U.S. citizenship. Tutoring, English classes, and computer access help children and adults keep learning, while a clothes closet, skills training, and connections to local services cover the rest of what a new start takes.

Help a new neighbor thrive
Every welcome is built by people who show up. You can give, serve, or pray, and your support keeps these programs running all year.
