Be a heart of hope.
Ninety days of federal support, then a family is on their own in a new country, a new language, and a new system. Gate of Hope stays for as long as it takes, with trauma counseling, citizenship help, driver's education, and a community that already knows the way. A monthly gift is what lets us tell a family we'll still be here next year, and mean it. Become one of 100 monthly givers who keep that promise going.
About the 100 Hearts of Hope campaign →9 hearts in. 91 still open. Every heart is the same size, whether you give $20 or $200.
When the clock runs out, we show up.
When a new neighbor arrives in the United States through the federal refugee resettlement program, they receive 90 days of support: housing help, case management, a basic orientation. Then the funding ends, and a family is expected to navigate a new country, a new language, and a new system on their own.
Gate of Hope exists for what comes after. We walk alongside East African new neighbors in Louisville for as long as it takes, with trauma counseling, citizenship assistance, driver's education, language support, mentorship for girls, healing through farming, and care for women rebuilding after violence. Thriving isn't a 90-day project, and no one should have to figure it out alone.
Here's what a gift looks like up close.
Every amount goes straight to the work. These are real costs from real programs.
One counseling session
Covers a trauma-informed mental-health group session, where new neighbors process what they've carried, in their own language, with a counselor who understands their world.
A license within reach
Helps a new neighbor pass the written driver's test, one of the most practical, life-changing milestones on the road to independence in a new city.
Citizenship, start to finish
Walks a family through the citizenship process from paperwork to preparation, with someone beside them every step of the way.
A month of mentorship
Funds a month of mentorship, safety training, and steady care for East African girls and young women building their futures in Louisville.
What healing looks like at Gosheni.
In 2019, a new neighbor arrived in Louisville with a severely injured arm. After several surgeries and painful therapy, she had lost hope of using it again. She came to Gosheni, our 19-acre farm whose name means "the healing place."
She began with small tasks: pulling weeds, tending the garden with one hand. The farm gave her purpose and people who understood her journey. Over time, through steady work and the encouragement of those around her, she regained full use of both arms. Today she farms at Gosheni as an active, joyful part of the community.
